David Tang is a director with the Business Department. His practice emphasizes securities regulation, private investment fund formation, mergers and acquisitions and public and private debt and equity offerings. In his practice, he has worked with companies and investors in a broad range of industries, including the finance, technology and life sciences sectors.

Prior to joining Howard Rice, Mr. Tang practiced general corporate securities law at Cooley Godward LLP.

  • Representation of startup investment manager assembling academic and business professionals to manage new “quantitative” funds.
  • Formation of “hybrid” funds to combine project-based energy investing with securities investment.
  • Representation of lead underwriter Thomas Weisel Partners in a follow-on public offering by Pharmacyclics, Inc., a developer of novel small-molecule drugs for brain metastases, lung cancer and other oncology indications.
  • Representation of lead underwriter Pacific Growth Equities in a follow-on public offering by Dynavax Technologies, a biopharmaceutical company developing therapies bases on immunostimulatory DNA sequences.
